Driven by the increased use of marketing automation, a new language has developed that helps sales and marketing departments manage leads.

Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) are deemed to have passed some agreed initial qualification and are passed to sales, If they pass further, detailed qualification they are termed SQLs (Sales Qualified Leads) that are hopefully developed into sales opportunities.

If they fail either stage, they are passed back to marketing for further nurturing,
